The Classic House at Akasaka Prince (赤坂プリンス クラシックハウス)

As part of KIOI ROSE GARDEN 2026, which runs until June 14, roses, hydrangeas, and other seasonal flowers have been planted around the Akasaka Prince Classic House (赤坂プリンス クラシックハウス).

Brick foundation from the Kitashirakawa residence

Built in 1930 on a site formerly occupied by the main residence of the Kishu Tokugawa family and later by that of Prince Kitashirakawa (1847–1895), this Tudor-style house served as the Tokyo residence of Yi Un (1897–1970), the last Crown Prince of the Korean Empire, who also served as a general in the Imperial Japanese Army. Next to the main entrance stands a brick foundation from the former Kitashirakawa residence, believed to have supported a freestanding column of the entrance porch.

After World War II, the house was used as the official residence of the President of the House of Councillors and, in 1955, opened as the Akasaka Prince Hotel. In 2011, it was designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Tokyo. Following extensive renovations, it reopened in 2016 as a wedding venue.
