The International Library of Children's Literature is a branch of the National Diet Library and is Japan's only national library dedicated to children's books. Opened in 2000, it serves as a center for collecting, preserving, and providing access to children's literature.
One of the library's greatest attractions is its beautiful architecture. The historic building was originally constructed in 1906 as the Imperial Library during the Meiji period (1868–1912).
