Shimano Coffee Taishokan

Along a street called Taisho Roman Yume-dori (大正浪漫夢通り) in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, stands a cafe called Shimano Coffee Taishokan (シマノコーヒー 大正館). The building was originally constructed in 1933 and used as a kimono shop.

The current cafe owner previously worked for a coffee chain before opening the cafe in 1996. He wanted to create a coffee shop inspired by Taisho Roman (大正浪漫), a romantic, nostalgic aesthetic associated with Japan's Taisho period (1912–1926), when Western cultural influences blended with traditional Japanese styles.

In addition to coffee, the menu includes toast, grilled sandwiches, pudding, ice cream floats, cakes, tea, and soft drinks.
